An Enchanted Christmas

Jan 7, 2009

We went to Enchanted Kingdom in Sta Rosa, Laguna the Sunday after Christmas and it was insane! There were so many people queued in various rides, even the minor ones. It took us almost 2 and a half hours just to get to ride the extremely disappointing Lego Riders in Rialto! Though while in line we get to witness the snow (or bubbles) show and a Christmas song by a chorale from Makati. My sister-in law's family had to wait the same amount of time to get to ride the swans! Then we had to wait another hour in line just to get to ride the Ferris wheel! We enjoyed the Rio Grande Rapids , which was as always fun and wet, because though the line was really long, it was moving quiet fast than the other rides. Unfortunately, the Jungle Log Jam was closed on the day we were there. Of course, even the wait for food carts on hot dogs and french fries was irritating. My husband was disgusted when having lined up for 20 minutes already, he was told the waiting time for the fries was another 30 minutes! We ended up eating a lot of cotton candies instead! The kids enjoyed themselves regardless of the long queues. Kids have an irritating way of amusing themselves at the expense of their parents! Like asking to go to the bathroom every 30 minutes, then pointing to have a go at another kiddie ride which thankfully has smaller queues, then pointing at food carts, while the other parent is stuck at the impossible long line at the Rialto!

It was really not my idea to go to the amusement park on a weekend-which was also a holiday, expecting the hordes of people who will be there. But my sister-in-law's family were there early in the day, as a treat for her daughter's birthday and my eldest, who wants to be with his cousins, begged us, almost irritating us to death until we finally relented. We were at the park by 3pm, already shaking our heads in disgust once we saw the lines of cars waiting to park! Of course, just paying for entrance fees took us another half hour.

Before the park closed at 12 midnight, we were running to several major rides which were almost closing, and by then almost empty. We still get to ride the swan, the roller coaster (not me, just my husband and his teenage nephews!) and the flying chair.

At the price of P400 for adults and P320 for kids for ride-all-you can tickets, it was worth the smile in my kids faces!
