Chelsea Market and Cafe

Jun 29, 2010

We had a birthday lunch celebration for our boss yesterday and it was at the Chelsea Market and Cafe in Podium. It was my first time to eat there and to my untrained palate, the food was superb! I will just let some of the pictures here tell you how much I enjoyed the food. I wasn't able to take pictures of the food on the other table, but just let me tell you that they were as good. Please excuse the quality of the photos are we were so excited to eat and they were poised with their knives while I was shooting, ha ha. We were that excited with the food as though we were looking at New Summer Fashionscollection!

I don't know what you call this bread but it was so delicious. Since the portions were big, we shared these dishes.Crispy Duck Confit and Mushroom Risotto.
Roasted Whole Garlic-Rosemary Lemon Chicken with Mashed Potatoes. The chicken was so tender!
The boss ordered 3 kinds of thin crust pizzas: All Meat, Five Cheese and Roasted Portabello Mushroom. I loved the Five Cheese! And now, dessert galore!

This is the NY Chocolate Chip Brown Cookie Dough Cheesecake, a mouthful!
And I forgot what the name is but this is the best among the desserts we had.
This is the Banana Crunch Cream Pie. Was too sweet for my taste.
This is the free smores
And the free Choc-Nut that comes with the coffee condiments. I love choc-nut!
Of course, the food at Chelsea does not come cheap. Expect to spend around P1,000 per person when you dine here.

Ishi on Guitars

Jun 28, 2010

It is my dearest wish that my kids learn to play musical instruments. There is a lot to be said about being able to entertain other people and share one's talents. I hope she grows up learning to play the guitar, or at least model for one guitar maker. I hope a marketing company sees this and get her services! But can you see that the strings of the guitar are busted and this is really just a photo shoot? Ha ha!

Father's Day 2010

Jun 25, 2010

mommy moments

Father's Day was just a simple day for us. We went to church and then to SM to play at the Tom's World and to buy some groceries and then went home to have lunch. We are saving up for our trip to Boracay next month so we didn't really plan on eating out. Both my father and father-in-law are both gone now so there was also no celebration at home. My husband was the only Dad in our compound last Sunday as his brother was in Bulacan, his sister's husband works abroad and his other brother lives somewhere else.

This was the card my kid's made for him and I can see that he was realy touched by their effort.

My eldest son did the lettering while Ishi and Danniel lent him their scissors, glue and crayons and just basically cheered him while he was doing the drawing.

We actually got this rolled note from the church earlier during the mass when the priest blessed the Dad's. The kids had the idea of putting it in his card as it was very apt for what they feel for their father.
While I was watching my kids do this card for their father, I can feel their love for their Dad and I am really thankful to God for giving me this family. I did not have a particularly happy childhood and I wish that my kids are getting the best time of their lives with us as their parents.

Chic Eye Glasses

I used to wear glasses but I stopped wearing them some three years ago. My excuse is that they broke, but really they make me look 10 years older! I can of course have them repaired in a flash, but I choose to have the discomfort of not wearing them than look older than my real age. Even without the glasses, I look more mature so they are not helping. Of course, not wearing has a lot of disadvantages. The only advantage really is that I that I don't look that old. There is of course a solution: find chic eye glasses. But most cool and pretty eye glasses are so expensive I have no chance of owning one. I know that I have to buy one soon because I am having frequent migraine attacks because of my tired eyes especially after such a long day. I just hope to find one that is within my budget and will look quite good on me. Actually, I really, really have to buy one before the showing of the Eclipse movie so I can enjoy it without the usual headache afterwards. I often get one after watching a movie because I stare too much at screen. See, there are really no advantage to not wearing eye glasses than giving in to my vanity. I really better get one soon, ha ha!

Happy Birthday, Sweetheart!

To my one true north, it was my lucky day 32 years ago when you were born. I wish that we grow to be a hundred years old together. Just like the song below, I want to grow old with you.

Since Adam Sandler is your favorite, here is a song that I would like to dedicate to you.

I wanna make you smile whenever you're sad
Carry you around when your arthritis is bad
Oh all I wanna do is grow old with you

I'll get your medicine when your tummy aches
Build you a fire if the furnace breaks
Oh it could be so nice, growing old with you

I'll miss you
Kiss you
Give you my coat when you are cold

Need you
Feed you
Even let ya hold the remote control

So let me do the dishes in our kitchen sink
Put you to bed when you've had too much to drink
I could be the man who grows old with you
I wanna grow old with you

I love you, Sweetheart. At sabi nga pala ni Ishi, pa-burger ka naman!

Goodbye Blogger?

Jun 21, 2010

Forgive me for not being active in blogging lately. I am thinking of may be taking this blog to new directions given that I have been blogging for almost two years now. I am currently checking out webhosting reviews and might decide to move to another host. Not that I don't love blogger because I do, but I guess if I want to be taken more seriously, I have to blog from my own host and not just from a free web host. Although there are blogspot blogs out there that are considered authoritative, my blog is considered "a bit of fancy." Admittedly, this blog is a hobby but I put much effort here too. While I ask people to read and comment on my blog, I get hurt too when they dismiss it as just another blogspot blog. Some people can be just plain cruel. Anyway, I will continue writing about articles that makes me laugh, about family trips and bonding moments, about special occasions and simple joys and about motherhood and friendship. I will write about anything and everything that made me or could make me happy. This is my blog after all. If some would like to dismiss this blog as a waste of time, they are entitled to their opinion. It doesn't matter if this blog is on blogger or another webhost. As long as I enjoy writing it, then this blog will stay!

Mommy Moments: Daddy Moments!

Jun 18, 2010

mommy moments

These pictures of my husband bonding with his kids were all taken during our Bohol trip in December 2008. He really makes it a point to have time for his family. We go to mass every week and then either go to the mall or the park together for quality, family time.

My kids are indeed lucky to have a kind-hearted and responsible Dad like him!

I hope to prepare something special for him this Sunday as a Father's Day treat and the kids will be making him a card and a letter.

We love you Dad!

And to my father who is now in Heaven with our creator, hope you can still give my husband some tips or two, ha ha!

LP 110: Pagsusulit

Jun 17, 2010

Rain Rain Go Away

I am sure you still remember the typhoon Ondoy that happened September last year. I still do, and the rains always bring a reminder that the devastation could happen again. Call me paranoid but if I have the funds right this minute, I will be lining up to get a home insurance. I know its a reality for some but it is still a dream for me to insure my house against these natural calamities. Remember the sink hole that dominated the news recently? Who would have thought that stuff that we only see in movies could really happen in real life? No wonder my cousin abroad called to tell me she is now looking at some Ohio home insurance companies for her own house. I just hope she can have the peace of mind too. Good thing businesses have insurance coverage like this Netquote Kentucky business insurance. They need not be afraid of the rain and other calamities that could take out their life-long savings and properties just like that. Of course, they would lose a lot more if they do not pay for insurance premiums. When before I love the rain because of the cold weather and the good night sleep I will get, now I am afraid to sleep because I may wake up flooded! So I hope the rains will go away soon to leave me in peace.

I Survived the First Day of School!

Jun 15, 2010

I have four students who went to school today and it was surprisingly very painless! They all woke up on time, very excited and ate their breakfast without much prodding. I guess it must be the new uniform, new bags and new school supplies. Or for my college sister, the thought of seeing her friends made her steps more bouncy! My eldest son is now a teenager and he asked me if he can not bring all his stuff to school on his first day. He is in "high school" now, punctuation marks are his, not mine, ha ha.

Of course, I had to be up two hours earlier than my usual wake up time. I was too excited I guess, that I was awake at 2am. Good thing I was able to sleep again otherwise I would be the grumpy one. Now I am at the office but I did not go to the gym because I still have to buy some more stuff for the kids. I still have to check my other assignment, the Active Directory Tutorial that my friend was telling me about. But I have to finish all these school-related things before I can get my blogging groove back. It is a nice feeling though to start the school year right. And I just had a text from my mother that my youngest child got a "star" on her first day at school! Ah, simple motherhood joys!

Mommy Moments: Dear Dad

Jun 11, 2010

mommy moments

I cant find a card from my kids to their Dad! I only have a Dear Mom and Dad card and I guess its my fault. It will be my assignment for this Father's Day to ask the kids to make one for their father. I am sure they will make a very nice card for their father.

I feel blessed really to have a thoughtful partner in raising the kids. Noel is loving and very patient with his kids, sometimes more patient than I am.

He plays with his kids and make time to do things with them, like this makeshift basketball court. He bonds with his kids playing basketball, psp or just by goofing around.

He really enjoys having quality time with his family and genuinely and truly love us with all his heart. He is a loving and responsible father to his kids and that makes me feel truly blessed to call him my husband.

Wow Philippines! Seat Sale Galore!

Jun 4, 2010

It is now so easy to visit the many beautiful islands of the Philippines, thanks to seat sales of our various airlines. I have a Boracay trip next month and an October trip to Coron, Palawan. I have been to Bohol recently, thanks to these seat sales as well. Next year, we plan to go out of the country after we have seen enough of our own Wow Philippines!

Cebu Pacific, my favorite airline, always has seat sale. Our recent purchase was for Coron in October, for only P672 per person one way.

Philippine Airlines now have many promos, the recent one is their P612 to Tagbilaran in Bohol. My friend was able to book for her family, all six of them for only P7,000!

Air Philippines has the cheapest fare today, except when Cebu Pacific has its Piso Fare. We will buy our return flight from Coron from Airphil because their flight leaves at 3pm.

I hope you can try to visit and discover the beauty of the Philippines and take advantage of these promos. Visit our country first before going abroad and promote tourism in our country.

Mommy Moments: Unforgettable Summer

mommy moments

Summer is not over for us because we have not yet reached our swimming quota! We have only gone to Somerset's club house last April. Below is an old picture taken there because I don't have my recent pictures here now.We plan on going to Summer Camp resort in Cavite next week if our budget will still allow. This late, we have yet to buy books and school supplies. Anyway, we are all looking forward to our trip to Boracay next month and we expect that to be a belated summer experience for the family.
