Too busy to blog. Be back soon, promise!

Hagimit Falls, Samal Island

Jul 21, 2013

After the visit to the Monfort Bat Colony, our next stop was Hagimit Falls. We were enchanted by the place! Hagimit was named after the abundant Hagimit trees growing in the place which provided the perfect shade.  It was a long walk down, but the promise of the beautiful falls make the walk easier! (Entrance fee was P50 paid at the gate, and P150 for the table rental, paid to the caretaker).
And we fell in love with the place!  The water was not too cold, and was just deep enough for a proper swim.  We even went up to the falls and had the falling water massage our backs! We could have spent the whole morning just sitting there! We didn't even notice that it was noon and time to leave!
There is really a divine beauty to nature that any man made structure cannot ever match.  Hagimit Falls is one such place, where you silently thank God for having witnessed such pristine beauty!

Sasa Wharf, Davao City

Jul 19, 2013

For the Day 2 of our Davao adventure, we head off to Samal Island.  Our rented van (P3,700 for 10 hours) picked us up at 8am, and we head off to Sasa Wharf.  Fee was P270 for the van and P10 for each passenger in excess of 2.  Once the van was safely in the barge, we went out and up to the viewing deck for some photo ops. The trip only lasts for 15 minutes and then we were on the other side, at Babak wharf to start our Samal adventure!

Monfort Bat Cave, Davao City

On our second day in Davao, we went to Samal Island.  Our van picked us up from the hotel at 8am and we went on our way.  First stop was the Monfort Bat Cave (P100 entrance fee), a Guinness World Record holder for having the most numbers of Rousette Fruit Bats in the world. Oh, you have got to see it with your own eyes! Unbelievable!
We were having goosebumps just by looking at millions of bats.  It was really a sight to behold! There were several openings where you can take a look at the walls of the cave where millions of bats are hanging upside down, with some flying around to look for better spot to hang.
Yep, those black things on the walls are all bats! There really can be millions of them as almost all the walls were covered.  We had a tour guide who gave us information on the conservation efforts of the foundation.  He said the that best time to visit the cave was really at around 6pm (entrance fee at night is P200) because you will be able to see millions of bats as they fly!
Oh, and if you can't believe the sight of millions of bats, then you also can't imagine the smell!  Hahaha, but this is one place you have got to see with your own eyes! Don't miss it when you visit Davao!

Jack's Ridge, Davao City

Jul 18, 2013

After the visit to Eden Nature Park and Philippine Eagle Center, we went to Jack's Ridge for dinner.  Jack's Ridge is located at Shrine Hills in Matina.  The place was wonderful! There was something for everyone! We had a lovely dinner.  We ordered family style, and the food was great.  Sorry we had no pictures of the food because we were so hungry, hahaha. And the price was just right also. Anyway, after the lovely dinner, we went around the place for some photo ops, and found everything satisfactory.  There were some relics of the Japanese War, a kumintang, a pool (we didn't swim of course), and a playground.  We were able to burn off some of the dinner goofing around the place.  We didn't get to see Davao though the place overlooks the city because it was too dark, but we had a great time!

Philippine Eagle Center, Davao City

Jul 17, 2013

You can't go to Davao and not visit the Philippine Eagle Center. That is what I keep telling my friends when they learned that the Eagle Center was still an hour away from Eden Nature Park.  You see, the Philippine Eagle Center is home to our national bird which one of the most powerful and rarest of birds in the world. You have got to see it!  And we did! We paid an entrance fee of P5.00 to enter the water something, and the another P50 for the Eagle Center itself.  There was a very knowledgeable and funny tour guide who made walking around the center very fun and educational.  We learned the mating habits of the Philippine Eagles, and the fate of some of them that were released from the center.  We also saw the names of people who made donations, as their names were carved on slabs of concrete lining the walkways.

It was a very educational trip, and one that made us appreciate nature more as we learn how each and every action affects other living things in this world!

Keeping My Sanity with Save22!

Jul 16, 2013

I am a wife, a mom, a daughter, a sister, a friend, an employee, a student and an all-around busy body. There are only 24 hours a day, but I need more than that to do everything that is expected of me.  In the morning, I get my kids and my husband ready for school and work. That includes cooking, preparing their food and their clothes and keeping the house in order. When they are off to school only then can I have some quiet time for myself, maybe grab a cup of coffee while drying my hair and getting ready for work. At work, I do my job, lend an ear to a friend, go to the gym at noon, steal some time to do grocery shopping and then go home.  At home, I tend to my kids school work, get their things ready for the next day, prepare dinner and then get them to bed. Then I can read a book to send my self to sleep! And the day is over and on it goes the following day!
Me as the Mom, the Sister, the Wife and Friend
But wait, where do I find the time to study, be a daughter or a sister, blog, travel, be a wife and just plain keep my sanity? Well, there are ways! And SAVE22.com.ph is one of them!
As a working (and studying) mom, I learn to find ways to make life easier.  To find clothes on sale and for  grocery finds, I go to http://www.SAVE22.com.ph.  Not only do I get to know which establishment is having a sale, I also get a chance to find out which ones are giving exclusives! That's more saving and easier shopping for me!
Sale, sale, sale!
For travels deals, oh I am such a sucker for travels deals, everything and anything that is on sale is here! I was so excited when I saw the travel cruise on sale that my friends and I have been dreaming of since college!
Travel Galore!
Or how about for eating out? These ongoing promotions are such a big help, not only for my sanity, but for my pocket as well! Now that I have these savings, I have more money to save for our future needs!

Happiness Is A Way of Travel

My family loves to travel, and despite budget constraints, we were able to visit some of the best places in the Philippines. We have been to Baguio, Bohol, Boracay and Cebu, and we will be travelling to Palawan this October. I can still remember our first trip as a family, in Bohol in 2008 which was a lot of firsts for all of us, and since 2007, we tried to make it a yearly affair or every other year at least.  There is a lot to be said about travelling as a family.  It makes us a lot closer because we experience new things together, and the memories that we make are priceless and will stay with us forever!

Eden Nature Park and Resort, Davao

Jul 15, 2013

Our first itinerary upon arrival in Davao was in Eden Nature Park and Resort.  It was an hour drive away from the airport so we picked up lunch along the way and went straight to Eden.  Upon arrival, we paid P200 for the Day Tour, which comes with plated snacks.  We were supposed to avail of the guided tour (with van and tour guide) for P120 each, but our schedule did not allow us to wait for 30 minutes more so we just walked around the park.
There was a butterfly garden, an aviary, a fishing village, rooms for overnight stay, horseback riding, pinoy games and a lot more.  We were only able to walk around and then we had our snack, and then we were heading to the Philippine Eagle Center, which was also an hour away from Eden Nature Park.

Enrico's Apartelle Davao

Jul 9, 2013

For our recent trip to Davao, our group of 8 adults and 1 kid (9 years old) stayed at Enrico's Apartelle.  We rented the room for P2,970 per night, and an additional P400 for extra 2 persons, thanks to our exceptional haggling skills!  The apartelle is pictured below, and this picture came from Teng's FB page. I completely forgot to take a picture!

Anyway, our apartment has 3 bedrooms-1 master and 2 single beds.  There is one restroom upstairs and another downstairs.  There is a huge sala, kitchen and dining area. The floor was okay, but I guess it would be better if they used High Quaility Vinyl Tile Selection so that it would look more homey.  The apartelle was perfect for our group!  The room also comes with breakfast for 4 pax. Enrico's Apartelle is located near the NCCC Mall and S&R in Ma-a.  We had a pleasant stay, and I know that I will rent this place again should we come back to Davao.
