Wednesday Happy Thoughts!

Oct 29, 2014

Being happy doesn't mean that everything is perfect.  It means you have decided to look beyond the imperfections.  Happiness is:
1. Sembreak!
2. Late nights and even later mornings.
3. A good massage
4. Saying Bon Voyage to a friend who is studying abroad for a short time. A not-so-surprise, surprise party!
5. I am already enrolled on my last sem of my MBA. Then Thesis, and that is not happiness :(
6. Watching the series: Arrow. Ang pogi ni Oliver Queen!
7. Extra Special Gourmet Tuyo in Spicy Olive Oil. And fried rice. Yummy!
8. My Samsung tablet.
9. Back to running, uhmm, walking I mean.
10. The nine days novena for Nanay.

Goodbye, Nanay!

Oct 23, 2014

We bade goodbye to my husband's mother last week when she joined our Creator.  She lived a full life, and was loved by many.  She will be remembered with love and fondness, and she will always be in our hearts forever! Goodbye, Nanay, and may you be resting in the loving arms of our Creator!

Angkor and Cambodia Beer

Oct 4, 2014

Part of any travel, aside from checking out the tourist sites and the local cuisines, include tasting their beer.  These are what locals drink and we did try them.  Hmm, they were different, a little bland for my taste, if I compare them with our local brands.

I Want to Come Back Pho More!

Oct 3, 2014

Some of the Pho and noodles that we had during our Cambodia-Vietnam travel in February. A memorable trip indeed, a feast both for the eyes and the stomach!

The Love Affair with Bahn Mi

Oct 2, 2014

My husband fell in love, and had an affair with Bahn Mi or the Vietnames snadwich being sold on the street! The sandwich was made from a baguette, some cold cut meat depending on what you prefer, then some veggies of either carrot or cucumber and some leaves and then some sauce. He loves it spicy!
The prices of the Banh Mi are different too! We had them at VND40,000 (with water) or at VND15,000 on the street!
The picture below was taken while we were walking and this lady had her basket laid out to assemble the sandwich.  Not for the faint of heart though as they assemble it with their bare hands! My husband didn't seem to mind, hahaha!
That first bite, though! Hahahaha!

Two Bahn Mi in one night! One street after the other! We even bought one for take out to the airport. That's how much he loved the Bahn Mi! He bought it home to the Philippines, hahahah!

Food I Would Never Eat in Cambodia!

I am adventurous. But only up to a point. I can eat food on the sidewalk, bought on the streets.  But I just cant eat these delicacies we saw while walking around Pub Street! Even for a bet, I wont! There were signs that says no to picture taking but we managed to take some when there were so many people looking! We also some of these being sold during our stop overs going to Phnom Penh.
Are these cockroaches? I don't know and I couldn't ask out of disbelief, hahaha!
I think we have here in the country but I don't know what they are called. Some kind of crickets.  I think I could eat these if my life depended on it.
Scorpions in wine bottle. No, thanks! They are said to be aphrodisiac or medicinal or something, but no thanks!
Are these snakes? For real? Or some kind of eels?  Is this how they feel when they see our bituka ng manok, betamax, etc being sold on the street? Grossed-out? Hahaha!
Scorpions or some other spiders! I don't think they will ever go down my throat! This I will definitely never eat! As if the onion leaves will make it appetizing!

Well, we saw some groups of foreigners eating them in Pub Street for a dare, and when we asked one them how it tastes, he said he can't say as it didn't stay long in his mouth! He was still spluttering from drinking too much water just to make it go down, hahahah! But I would definitely not eat them!
