Mommy Moments: Big Things

Nov 26, 2010

mommy moments

What could be bigger than a mascot? Here are my three kids at the Robinsons Supermarket with a mascot for a cereal. Maricel Laxa was giving a talk on proper food for the kids while we were there.

This other picture was taken one of Danniel's educational trip. The crocodile was huge and he fit easily inside its mouth. I think this is in Boom na Boom in Pasay.

Enjoy your Mommy Moments!

Happy Birthday, Danniel!

Nov 24, 2010

Truly, a mother's riches are her children and I feel a million times blessed because of my son, Danniel Noel! He is turning eight years old today and a mother cannot ask for a better child. He is Top 2 in his class this grading period, Best in Math in Grade 1 last year and the sweetest son in the whole world! He has very simple request s during his birthday: a simple birthday dinner last night at Mang Inasal, some time to play at Toms World with his siblings, McFloat and some 8 items on his wish list, including 2-hour Facebook and Y8 time. I hope that he grow to be responsible and caring individual. He is a very sweet kid and I hope that he stays that way even when he is older. I love you, Danniel! You are worth to me more than the P600M lotto jackpot and I hope that you know that. I hope to be the best mother to you as you are the best son to me.

Tiles Today, Cabinets Tomorrow!

You know how we are slowly (but surely!) trying to build the dream house, right? The kitchen and the rest room are now being tiled and the construction is too slow for my comfort. The tiles for whole house are also being laid and there are only 2-3 people working. It started last Monday and was supposed to be finished by Saturday but there were a few setbacks so I hope they finish by this weekend! I really hope they finish soon because we are planning on putting the ceiling and kitchen cabinets soon. I have already chosen my beautiful kitchen cabinet doors although it was a really tough choice because I also saw bamboo cabinet doors that I loved. It was really too bad that I didn't check those cabinet doors online because there were really nice choices. Anyway, I really want this to be over soon so that we can finally enjoy the beauty and comfort of our home.

Whay will you do with P600M?

Nov 23, 2010

The biggest prize in Philippine Lotto history could very well reach the P600M mark since nobody got lucky with the 6/55 draw combination of 17-19-22-25-37-50 last night, November 21. My mother, who I think only gets up in the morning so she can bet on the lotto (joke!) only got three correct numbers and won P150 for her efforts. When we heard in the news this morning that nobody won, my husband said that they should just give the money to charity as this is already too much money for just one person. Now, we are also betting on this game because of my mothers enthusiasm but the amount of money one can possibly won makes you think of what you will do with it. I came up with this list:
1. Buy a house and lot in an exclusive subdivision and move there for security purposes.
2. Buy a car for the family.
3. Finish the construction of the dream house to my hearts desire, where cost is no more a problem. This will not be sold because of sentimental reasons.
4. Hire an investment manager and a lawyer to help manage and invest the money.
5. Build a church, a health center, a livelihood training center and a public school inside Dela Costa Homes in Montalban under a foundation created for my deceased father.
6. Send the kids and my sister to good schools and provide adequately for their needs.
7. Buy for my mother whatever she wants. Knowing her, this wont be too many nor too much.
8. Travel once a year as usual.
9. Start a business.
10. As much as possible, keep quiet about all of it.

I saw on TV the story of one lotto winner who won 85 million but lost it all after several family members got sick. If any of my family members will get sick or die in exchange for my winning the lotto, then no thanks. I don't want it, nor do I need it! I would rather have my happy family than more money than I could even dream of spending.

Mellow Yellow Monday: Siete Pecados, Coron, Palawan

Nov 22, 2010

Happy faces while taking a dip at Siete Pecados in Coron Palawan. The buoy, the vest and the goggles made this a great entry for a Mellow Yellow Monday!

Yes, we were only taking a dip as the current was too strong for us, who do not know how to swim! He he, nevertheless, we had such a wonderful time!

I am so mad I can sue!

Nov 19, 2010

I am so down at the moment. My feelings are alternating between sadness and madness because I discovered just now that somebody stole my running shoes from the gym's locker. Well, I am really not sure yet if somebody took it on purpose or by accident but it is gone and I missed gym this lunch time. I was really so mad I can sue! Unfortunately, my lawyer friend is busy with a Chinese drywall law suit and cannot help me at the moment. And even if she can help me, we wont know who to sue over my running shoes, ha ha. I really want to believe in the innate goodness in men and think that it was just taken by accident and it will be back on its shelf by Monday. My office mates are trying to make me smile by telling me that maybe the person who took it is just too envious of my apparent weight loss. That made me smile and think that I am indeed lucky that I am only missing a shoe and not my feet! Now, I should help my friend in that law suit so I have to go research some stuff!

If I Had My Life to Live Over

Nov 15, 2010

This arrived at my inbox today and is just dying to be forwarded.

- by Erma Bombeck
written after she found out she was dying from cancer).
would have gone to bed when I was sick instead of pretending the earth would go into a holding pattern if I weren't there for the day.
I would have burned the pink candle sculpted like a rose before it melted in storage.
I would have talked less and listened more.
I would have invited friends over to dinner even if the carpet was stained, or the sofa faded.
I would have eaten the popcorn in the 'good' living room and worried much less about the dirt when someone wanted to light a fire in the fireplace.
I would have taken the time to listen to my grandfather ramble about his youth.
I would have shared more of the responsibility carried by my husband.
I would never have insisted the car windows be rolled up on a summer day because my hair had just been teased and sprayed.
I would have sat on the lawn with my grass stains.
I would have cried and laughed less while watching television and more while watching life.
I would never have bought anything just because it was practical, wouldn't show soil, or was guaranteed to last a lifetime.
Instead of wishing away nine months of pregnancy, I'd have cherished every moment and realized that the wonderment growing inside me was the only chance in life to assist God in a miracle.
When my kids kissed me impetuously, I would never have said, 'Later. Now go get washed up for dinner.' There would have been more 'I love yous; More 'I'm sorrys.
But mostly, given another shot at life, I would seize every minute, look at it and really see it ... live it and never give it back.
Don't worry about who doesn't like you, who has more, or who's doing what.
Instead, let's cherish the relationships we have with those who do love us.
If you don't mind, send this on to all the women you are grateful to have as friends.
Maybe we should all grab that purple hat earlier.
Please send this to the wonderful women in your life.
If you do, something good will happen--you will boost another woman's self esteem.

Christmas Wish List#1 Mantel Clocks

Its just 40 days before Christmas and for the first time, I am publishing my wish list for this year. I heard or maybe read somewhere that it is a lot better to say directly what you want and maybe get it, than drop hints and be disappointed. Besides, I am sure that my husband will never in a million years guess that I would want mantel clocks for Christmas. But I saw this beautiful clock in my friend's study and I loved it! It was carved in an old wood that gave her study a certain aura. I cant describe it, but I am sure that the mantel clock made the room and the decors come together. When I asked my friend where she got the mantle clock, she said it was a gift from her father who used to keep the clock in his office and gave it to here when he retired. So I guess other than being a prefect room decor that tells the time of course, there was also a bit of family tradition there. For me, I want a mantle clock for my study at home, just to remind me of my family. My husband can choose the design as he fit for my personality and the room. No need for a wrist watch Sweetheart, a mantle clock it is!

Bye bye Milk Teeth!

Nov 12, 2010

Ishi lost her upper and lower milk teeth just the other week and here she is making her funny face. It cracks me up, really! She looks super adorable!
She cried when they fall out because she was playing with it with her tougue and there was little blood. But she immediately stopped crying when we shouted "ice cream, ice cream" right away! We had a blast eating ice cream to celebrate her new lower teeth.

Mommy Moments: Ishi in Pink!

mommy moments

Yep, Mommy loves dressing Ishi in Pink! I choose 6 random photos and she is in pink in more than half of them.

My boys will wear anything in any color so we need not ask what their favorite color is. But my eldest now prefers black shirts over other colors.

Love: Life is Short!

Nov 11, 2010

My friend was telling me about this neighbor who had a heart attack, who just the other day was still up and about. We both lamented at how short life is because of what happened. I know it is such a cliche, but indeed everyday that we wake up is a gift, another chance to experience what life has to offer. And so here are 3 things that I promise myself that I will do everyday:

1. Hug and kiss my husband and my kids everyday and say I love you to them every chance I got.
2. Do fun things with them and share smiles and laughter.
3. Pray with them.

These are such easy things to do and will not take any extra effort on our parts because we do them everyday out of love for our family. We just have to be reminded sometimes that life is short and we must not take for granted that we always have tomorrow to do these things and just do it right now. And speaking of things to do now, an Online Life Insurance is one more thing that we should think of getting now! Again, life is too short so make right choices!

Time to Start A-Saving!

I was bloghopping when I saw Fitz Villafuerte's post about his piggy bank and I realized that is one great idea for me to save so I can finally pay for my webhosting. I have been writing in this blog for two years now and I think I am really, finally should be able to take the next step in blogging: that is get my own domain. It is one of my immediate plans for the next year. I have to start saving to be able to do it because we are also building our house now and there are always bills to pay. I like Fritz' idea of saving because it will also help me develop my discipline. I plan to put all five-peso coins that I will have during the day into my own piggy bank. I will make one over the weekend and maybe post a picture next time. I plan to start my piggy bank by Monday and I know I need not wait until New Year to make this resolution. There is really no point in waiting because I have made up my up mind that I will have that money to pay for webhosting in two months! And I think that I will develop it into a habit so I can save enough money for my other 3 blogs. So, let start a-saving!

Wednesday Happy Thoughts!

Nov 10, 2010

Be thankful for what you have; you'll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don't have, you will never, ever have enough.-Oprah Winfrey
So here are just some things I am thankful for this week:
1. My family is happy and healthy.
2. My husband is keen on having a healthy body by running everyday and eating properly. He loves us, that's why.
3. My mother and sister for all their love.
4. Being able to slowly but surely build the dream house.
5. Karen's birthday lunch at Kalye Juan: good food, great company.
6. Cagayan de Oro in March, yehey!
7. Danniel's upcoming 8th birthday.
8. My new camera, thanks to Vangie and a 6-month no interest deal!
9. Looking forward to Christmas parties and get-togethers.
10. For the smell of coffee this morning to remind me to be happy just because!

Air Asia's Seat Sale!

Nov 9, 2010

Yep, we are all going gaga over this seat sale in Air Asia. We want to go to Malaysia and at P790 for a one way trip (excluding taxes), we think that this is great. The tentative travel date is still one year ahead, but we are so excited already!

Wish me luck in getting seats for all of us here at the office!

Our Own Business

Nov 8, 2010

My mother sells barbecue in front of our house. She has been doing this for around thirty years now, since when I was in elementary. And now that she is 55 years old and not in the best of health already, it might be time for her to quit. But since this business is a big part of our lives, I don't want to stop it just because my mother cannot do it anymore. I am thinking of making it our own family business. We can hire people to do most of the job while my mother will just supervise the operation. My contribution will be to provide the capital and to look for a good location. Unfortunately, we cant find a good location that is within our budget. One of our requirements is that the place should be at least near our house so my mother can still look after my kids (school age) but mind the business at the same time. I also plan to offer our products for events like birthdays and office parties. Even now while we are only selling from outside our house, we get bulk orders for parties and my mother even have to decline sometimes because she cant do it on her own. My sister who works at an office in Ortigas frequently order for their office gatherings. I am also thinking of getting for my mother some restaurant business cards so she can give away to her more bigger clients. I hope I can find a good location soon especially now that Christmas season is upon us!

Real Mothers

Nov 5, 2010

I dedicate this post (from a forwarded email) to my mother, just because I love her.

Real Mothers don't eat quiche;
They don't have time to make it.

Real Mothers know that their kitchen utensils
Are probably in the sandbox.

Real Mothers often have sticky floors,
Filthy ovens and happy kids.

Real Mothers know that dried play dough
Doesn't come out of carpets.

Real Mothers don't want to know what
The vacuum just sucked up...

Real Mothers sometimes ask 'Why me?'
And get their answer when a little
Voice says, 'Because I love you best.'

Real Mothers know that a child's growth
Is not measured by height or years or grade...
It is marked by the progression of Mummy to Mum to Mother.....

Christmas Gifts For the Kids

Nov 4, 2010

Their Halloween Costume during trick or treat.

Its only 51 days to go before Christmas and we should all be starting that most important list of all, our gift list! Good thing there are lots of mall sales and bazaars in the metro that we don't need to go to crowded areas like Divisoria to do our Christmas shopping. But I find it really special shopping for gifts for my own kids. Last year, they received a PSP, a bike and art materials and they loved them. This year however, since my eldest is now twelve and will be a tween next year, I plan to get him Air Jordans for Christmas. You know how important it is for teenagers to belong with their peers and since most of his friends are talking about Jordan Shoes and Pacquiao shirts and stuff like that, I will just get that for him. Good thing I know where to find those Cheap Jordan Shoes, and I don't have to dent my budget too much! For the younger ones, I will ask them to prepare a wish list, and if they are especially good kids, I will buy all the stuff on their list! I know that they wont be asking for expensive toys because my other son who is turning eight this November only asked for Sudoku booklets. My little girl only wants more coloring books and a new set of crayons and pencil case so I can easily get that for her as well.

She is a Healer

Nov 3, 2010

This is my youngest daughter Ishi and she is turning seven next year. This early, we know that she is either going to be a nurse or a physical therapist. She has healing hands and she gives a great massage. Whenever my husband or I have a headache, we would just ask her to rub the spot for us, and as soon as she laid her hands on us, the pain would disappear! I know its too early for me to be thinking of her college course or profession but I can say that she is really a healer. And she would look very nice in those white nurse uniforms. I can already imagine her in those cute scrubs clothing that are now fashionable looking. Good thing that they have improved from those drab looking green scrubs that nurses used to wear. Now, nurses look too cute in their girly scrub tops!
But aside from having great healing hands, she also loves playing nurse with her dolls and even when her brothers are sick. She would volunteer to get their temperature and wet towels for their forehead. She is also very good at touching her brother's forehead to check if they are hot to touch. I know my little girl will soon become a productive member of our society, as one of those kind-hearted nurses that we all need!
