November 30 is Andres Bonifacio Day

Nov 30, 2012

Gat Andres Bonifacio. Today is the birthday of one of the leading heroes of the Philippine revolution against the Spaniards.  He is known as the "Great Pleabian (pleabian, meaning, of the the masses) and the Father of Philippine Revolution and Father of Katipunan

It will serve us well to remember our heroes so that we will know that people fought with their life for the freedoms that we are enjoying today.  A holiday does not just mean a free day from work and school.  May it serve as a reminder that our freedom came with a price, and we should never take it for granted.

My Flawless Beauty Transformation

Nov 29, 2012

This is me. All 138 lbs on a 5'2'' frame, and based on any BMI calculator that I can find, I am OVERWEIGHT. If  the emphasis is not enough, well, I have bulges where bulges have no place and my skin  sags where they have no business sagging! And lest you say I let it happen to me, let  it be known that I do Zumba, I run (did 3k and 10k and you can sometime see me running along Araneta Ave or at QC circle on weekends) and I cut down on my food intake (no rice, baby).  I do Hiphop Abs at home, I buff the floor, walk to the market and use the stairs! I also religiously participate in our fire drill (since I am fire marshall) and go down the fire exit from the 42 floor of our building! Thankfully, they allow us to use the elevator to go back up, ha ha ha. So, I live an active lifestyle and I eat sensibly. But how did it came to this, you ask?

Well, I have three wonderful kids aged 15, 10 and 8 and I am only 35. The body undergo changes from whence we are young to become teenagers and young adults, and to one who has reared children, and that's times three for me.  So naturally, I have excess fat and stretch marks and no amount of diet and exercise can help me get rid of what nature and pregnancy did to my body. And that's where my flawless beauty transformation comes in!

"In celebration of its 11th birthday, Flawless is inviting everyone to take advantage of its 1 + 1 beauty blowout this National Flawless Month. If this isn’t the best time to boost or jumpstart your top to toe beauty transformation, then I don’t know what is. Go to or visit a clinic near you for more information."

And this is my most WANTED service: NANO RF A fantastic alternative to invasive liposuction, Nano RF services contour and lift the skin with almost no downtime—making RF the perfect solution to instantaneous slimming. By heating up the specific area, collagen is stimulated, which provides immediate contouring effect; tightening and lifting the treated area. Flawless provides Nano RF services for virtually any part of the body and face.

This will be perfect time for me to get rid of the bulges and sagging skin, thanks to Flawless! Then the battle of the bulge can finally end and I can be one "Hot Momma" already!

Go ahead and visit their website now to know more about their promos! We can all have that Flawless Beauty Transformation right now!

Motherhood, the most difficult yet the most rewarding job in the world!

A Simple Birthday Celebration

My son celebrated his 10th birthday last Saturday with a simple family celebration.  I cooked his favorite champorado for breakfast and we sang him a song and he blew his birthday candles.  Then we had some pansit for lunch.  At around 3 pm, we left for SM North Edsa where I had a voucher for unlimited play at Active Fun that I bought from Metrodeal.  They played for almost 3 hours! After that, we went in search of his gift, the board game Game of the Generals but we couldn't find it at Toy Kingdom or at the department store so I will just look for it elsewhere and give the gift later.  Then, we had dinner at KFC. On the way home, we bought McDonald coke float to cap off the night.  The birthday boy was all smiles at this simple celebration and my heart was filled with happiness at his obvious delight at life's little joys! Thank God for this awesome kid!

10 Reasons Why Love Danniel!

Nov 24, 2012

My son Danniel is celebrating his 10th birthday today and while a mother never runs out of reasons to love her kids, here are just 10 of the reasons why my son is special to me:

1. It was love at first sight!  Who can resist his charm?
2. He is the nicest baby we ever had.  He doesn't cry much and always has a ready smile.
3. He is very easy to please. Just put him in water and he is good! He loves swimming!
4. He is quiet and sweet and is thoughtful. He is a great Kuya to Ishi.
5. He is a consistent honor student.  No need to tell him to study his lessons as he will do it on his own.
6. There are times when he is afraid to try somethings, but when he makes up his mind to do something, he will always give his best.
7. He is responsible at such a young age.
8. Do i need more reasons? I just love him!
9. And I am oh so proud of him! And I pray that he will be successful in his life!
10.  And now that he is 10, he is still a baby.  In just a few years, he will be a teen, but for now, he will always be my little Danniel!
Happy Birthday, Anak! My only wish is that you become a good person and everything else that is good in life will follow.  I love you!

Things I Would Love to Receive As Gift This Christmas

Nov 22, 2012

I am listening to this radio show right now and they are talking calls from people asking them what they hate getting during Christmas gift giving, but I would rather write about 10 things I want to get instead of what I hate getting:

1. Cash, GC or any other monies.
2. Plane tickets
3. Hotel accommodation vouchers
4. Groupon vouchers for any beauty treatment
5. A Longchamp bag or any bag
6. A watch
7. Kindle or ipad or camera
8. Jeans, shoes or shirts.
9. Anything for the house.
10. Any gadget.

Hmmm, maybe I should also write about what I dont like getting. What do you think?

The Beautiful Tropical Garden at the QC Memorial Circle

Nov 20, 2012

We were in our favorite park in the world, the QC Memorial Circle, for some quality family time last Sunday and we were very happy to discover the newest improvement in the park: the Tropical Garden.
It was inaugurated just this October, and after a morning of playing badminton, running and walking, the Tropical Garden was a very welcome sight. The picture below immediately caught my eyes because what is the poor guy doing there? Ha ha!
The beautiful lake at the Tropical Garden.  Can you see the monument? There are lots of green, and water and we were just peacefully walking along, taking in the surroundings!
Everywhere was picture perfect! And even my hyper active kids were enjoying the peaceful view!
The waterlilies in the pond! We were actually waiting for some frogs, but it might be too early for this park.  I will give it a few more months and I know frogs will be a welcome sight here!
Just taking the time to enjoy the view! I can stay here all day, with a good book.
Ha ha, my husband is actually guilty of sleeping in the park that's why he is not in the photos.  But he just came home from night duty, and drove us straight to the park.  After eating breakfast, which we bought in the food stalls, he slept soundly!
Perfect for photo ops! I just wish water was flowing on those rocks so that the water wont turn murky.
These huge art installations were such a hit with my eldest son.  They were part of the KM1 public photography exhibit and they indeed are great to make the masses enjoy art!
One more look at this beautiful Tropical Garden and a shout out to the QC government and the park administrators for maintaining the QC Memorial Circle into a family park!

Wednesday Happy Thoughts

Bel-Air Residences Lipa, Batangas: A House, A Home and A Lot More

Nov 19, 2012

Aside from the good health and well-being of my family, I only have one other fervent prayer to God every night, and that is to have my dream home for my family.  We are currently renting a cramped space in Sta Mesa Manila, in a house where my husband grew up, and for a family of seven, cramped is not even close to describe how tiny our house is.  Just imagine this: if  you fall down  in the living room, you will get up in the kitchen! Why not move? Well, my husband was born here, the rent is very minimal and it is close to everything: school, church, malls and work.  But it gets flooded during heavy rains too!  We are currently paying for a row house in Montalban, Rizal but after Typhoon Ondoy (flood reached the roof of the house) and the recent Habagat (knee-deep flood inside the house), we know we will never live in that house ever. The house is nice since we already spent money to build it, but the location is such that when it rains, you won't get any sleep in fear of flooding! So the next option, now that my kids are getting big, is to find that dream house, God-willing.

By now, I have already described what my dream home is: big enough for a big family like mine(me and my husband, my 3 kids, my mom and sister), close to school(college and elementary), work(my husband works in Pasay City), church(a place to worship), hospitals(for my mom) and leisure(who can stay away from beaches?), and safe from flooding(unlike Montalban) and crimes, and some where we can have activities that will make us enjoy being a family (think outdoor fun). It must be a good place to retire too, when the kids grow up and leave the family home and where I can imagine me and my husband growing old in peaceful retirement.

So when I saw Bel-Air Residence in Lipa, Batangas,  I know that this is "The One" and let me tell you why:

1. Bel-Air Residences Lipa can be found in one of the best cities in the country.

It is located in Lipa, Batangas and easily accessible via the SLEX and Star Tollway.  And since I was born in Batangas, it feels like I'm just coming home! And my husband works in Pasay City and this is actually an easier commute than going home to Montalban, Rizal.

2. Your choices of house units range from townhouses to two-storey units with floor areas as big as 88 to 165 sq. meters, all designed under the concept of  “Modern Zen” architecture.

This is perfection! A 3-bedroom house (one for us, another for the kids, and the other for my mom and sister!) will suit us perfectly! It's made us for us, really!

3.Owners will enjoy amenities like their own basketball court, a jogging path, a playground for kids, barbeque area, multiple parks, a pool, a lanai, a gazebo and a Club House.
Do I even have to say how much I am going to enjoy this? No need to go out of the village for the much need exercise and play!

4. Bel-Air Residences Lipa is near schools such as Ateneo School of Business, De La Salle University Lipa and many more.
My eldest is now in third year high school and one of a mom's greatest fear is for her son to come to harm in the modern jungle also known as "Recto" for his college education.  If I can find those same reputable schools in some safer place like Lipa, I would definitely sleep better at night.

5. Aside from being close to established hospitals like Lipa Medix Medical Center  and Metro Lipa Medical Center, the village is walking distance from major malls such as SM Lipa, Fiesta Mall, South Supermarket etc. Other leisure places like the Mt. Malarayat Golf Course, The Farm at San Benito and famous Batangas dive sites are minutes away also.

If I can have all my city comforts at a place where I have lesser worries, I wouldn't even have second thoughts about moving to Bel-Air Residences in Lipa, Batangas.

There is really no place like home, and indeed Bel-Air Residences in Lipa, Batangas is the home I am dreaming of  even before I saw it! It has everything that my family will ever need, and everything that a mom's heart would ever pray for in a dream home!

Thanks to Nuffnang and Bel-Air Residences for this awesome contest, and I hope to win that trip for 2 to Boracay! Good luck to us!

The Breaking Dawn Part 2 Screening at Resorts World

Nov 16, 2012

I super enjoyed the screening of The Breaking Dawn Part 2 last night for many reasons.  One, tickets were free, thanks to Nuffnang and Wacoal. Two, I was with my BFF's Rona and Ehms and my sister Kris.Three, it was our first time to go to Resorts World where my husband and Ehms' husband work and four, because I enjoyed the Twilight books.
The movie: it was awesome.  I think this is the only time that I would say this but the movie's twist was better that how it was in the book!  I loved the movie more than the book.  And I have never, ever said that before.  I actually want to see it again!  The cinema was filled with reactions from the crowd as the movie unfolds.  It was an awesome movie! But Bella still can't act and Jacob's still sent the ladies drooling.  We had free popcorn and drinks too, thanks again to this wonderful Nuffnang hosted event.  Oh, and Ehms even won in the raffle before the movie where she gets a gift certificate for one set of Sorci Age product. But they cant say her name correctly, right Mirdinin? He he.
After the movie, we went inside the casino to apply for membership at Resorts World.  My sister was only 20 years old so she was not allowed inside.  She applied for her membership at the mall while we roamed inside the casino.  We all won a key chain at the spin it thingie.  We had no time to try the slot machine because my sister was waiting outside.
(Kunyari sa Macau ha!) One photo inside the mall after the movie and before heading home!
Oh, and we also had a blast taking our pictures at the cinema, posing and just having fun! When you are with friends, everything can indeed be hilarious!
We met with my husband who was on duty and then we took the Newport shuttle to San Juan.  Bye for now Resorts World, but we will be back soon, and maybe try our luck at the casino!
Thanks again Nuffnang and Wacoal/Sorci Age!

My Boracay Expenses

Nov 8, 2012

We went to Boracay last October 2012, and like my previous visits, I love it there!   But of course, to fully enjoy the place, you have to plan your expenses and budget your money.  So this post is all about the expenses we had during our latest visit, just so you have an idea how much this trip could cost you.
Our ticket was free, thanks to Cebu Pacific so I only had to pay for the terminal fee and something else and it was only around P420.00.  If you are budget travellers like us, you will always be on the look out for Piso fare sales and the likes to minimize your costs.  My husband was asking why I choose to book a Kalibo flight instead of Caticlan and I told him that only Caticlan flights get cancelled and since it was rainy season, I didnt want to take any chance. Below is a list of expenses we had upon landing in Kalibo:

Van fare from Kalibo to Caticlan Jetty Port: P250 each including boat fare (when we got to the jetty port, the driver handed us back the P50!). Boat fare is P25 each, unless you take the Montenegro Fast Craft (which we did, kasi katabi ng window ng environmental fee) forP30 each. And they leave a little later than the other boats because its airconditioned,  with a TV, and waiting for more passengers.  You also have to pay the environmental fee of P75 each and terminal fee of P100 each.  When you reach Boracay, you still have to ride a tricycle if yiou dont have transfers with your hotel.  Special trips costs P100-P150 but regular fare (where you wait for other commuters) costs P20 each.

We stayed at Madid's Inn(Archie-09159117780) and the rate was P1000 per night.  It is in Station 2, and just a few steps from the beach.  It is right beside Taj Guesthouse and Villa Simprosa. He had somebody fetch us from the convenience store in D'Mall.  The room was okay and adequate for us. We had a family room on the first night and transferred to a smaller room on the next day.  There are lots of accommodations in Boracay ranging from high end hotels to resorts to inns and even dorms, depending on your budget.

As for food, there are also lots of choices, from buffet to Mang Inasal and Andoks to barbecue stalls on the side.  Its really up to you and your preferences.

As for activities such as boating, parasailing, reef walking, jetski, fly fishing and a lot more, there are lots to choose from to.  Since it was only me and my husband, we did not try any of those activities and instead just walk, swim and eat. For bar and drinking, we opted instead to just buy from the convenience store and drink while walking or while watching TV in our room.  You can also stop and listen to bands while walking on the beach, and its free!
Going home after two wonderful days, make sure to leave enough money for souvenir items.  They range from P10 for bracelets and anklets to P35 each for ref magnets, P75 each for shirts and a lot, lot more!

Going out of the island, be prepared to pay P20 again for the tricycle to the jetty port, then P25 again for the boat ride and P100 again for the terminal fee.  Van ride from jetty port to the airport is P175 each while P100 only if to Kalibo.

Hope that the detailed expenses I wrote here can prepare you and your budget in visiting Boracay.  Of course,  your expenses will always depend on how much you are willing to spend (except for the government fees and fares) and with whom you are going to Boracay with.  In any case, just always have fun and let nothing spoil a wondeful trip!
