Ginataang Tulingan

Jan 26, 2014

Sundays are family day and my mom can be expected to prepare great dishes. Today, she made one if my favorites: Ginataang Tulingan. And of course, I had to hound her again on how to cook it, so here's how.

1kilo tulingan, sliced
1/2 kilo purong gata
5 sili pansigang

How to cook:
1. Isaing ang isda which means boil the fish in water, sibuyas and bawang until maubis ang tubig.
2. Put the coconut milk and luya and bring to a boil.
3. Season to taste and top with sliced talong and simmer until talong is cooked.

Best served with hot rice and ice cold coke!  Yummy!!!

Pork Sinigang ni Inay!

I am very lucky to have a mom who loves to cook (although I am fat because of that but that's for another blog post) and today, when I am on my Day 3 of diet, look what she prepared! One of her specialties, Pork Sinigang! And of course the diet went flying out the window, hahaha! Anyway, here is how my mom cooks her sinigang.

1 kilo buto buto ( I don't why but we love the buto buto more than the liempo or cubes)
1 tali Sitaw
1 tali Okra
1 labanos
1 tali Kangkong
5 siling haba
1/4 kilo gabi
1 sibuyas
1 magic sarap
1 pack Sinigang Mix

How to:
Boil the buto buto with the gabi and sibuyas for 15 minutes.  Grind the gabi. Once the meat is tender, add the vegetables except the sili ang kangkong.  Let boil and then add the sinigang mix and magic sarap. Season to taste. Let boil and add the sili and kangkong. Let simmer for a little while and serve while hot! Best served with patis and siling labuyo, and hot rice na may tutong!

On a side note, I was able to create a post using my IPhone! And with a picture too!

Blogging from my phone!

Let's see if this will work!

Pretty Pretty Blue Nails!

One of the perks of having a daughter is you have someone to make kikay! But my daughter is much more kikay than I am.  If I would let her, she would play with my hair all the time and even do my make up.  Good thing she has other things to keep here busy! But one thing she loves doing is our nails.  And look at my pretty blue nails! I have to keep her stocked with polish though and I pay her sometimes when she would let me but most of the time, she would volunteer to do my nails as long as she gets to choose the color. I love my daughter!

Let's Do This!

Jan 20, 2014

It is less than a month before the trip to Cambodia and Vietnam with the Superfriends and since we are photo addict like that, I know we will take thousands of pictures and I dont want to look back at those pictures looking at my double chin! Hahaha, hence the inspiration (or desperation) to lose at least 5 lbs (or even just 5 lbs!).  I can do this during the weekdays because I can easily stay away from food and go to the gym here in our office.  But I have a hard time during weekends when the ref is just two steps away from the couch and the remote is on my tummy! Yep, I am a certified couch potato on weekends (after doing my chores, that is!).

Anyway, good luck to me and I hope I can at least lose 5 lbs! And I need all that luck and inspiration I can get, hahaha!

Conquering Mountains: Mt. Marami

Jan 19, 2014

Mt. Marami, located in Marigondon in Cavite is very aptly named. We left the jump-off at 930 am and was back again at 8pm!  Maraming-marami kaming experience indeed!  It was NAC's last climb for the year, and it proved very  memorable.  We went through several hills and three rivers under the glare of the sun and we asked ourselves several times why we were doing it again!  Of course, we found our answers once we were on top of the world!
Mt. Talamitam is higher than Mt. Marami but there was no straight trail and we had to go through  long and ardous route.  We each had more than 5 liters of water and we almost ran out because it was so hot! Good thing our group was really there to have fun despite the difficult trail.
When we reach the summit at past 3pm and oh boy, the climb was worth it! From the top we could see Pico De Loro and other mountains and even Balayan Bay.  It was a really rewarding experience and I know I would keep on doing this for as long as my knees can!
Of course, we had to stop ourselves from groaning when we remembered that we had 4 more hours to descend.  By that time, it was our desire to rest that was fueling our bodies from putting one put in front of the other and when we finally made it back after 11 hours of trekking, we were so happy!  But we were already planning our next mountain, ha ha ha ha!

Just saying.

On To Better Things

New Year's Resolutions

Jan 10, 2014

image from Google

Welcome 2014 and I wish that this year will be a much better one than last year.  And while I am not really into making resolutions at the start of the year, let me try it now.  Here are some of the things that I vow to do this year.
  1. I will not buy anymore airline tickets during seat sale this year. I already have two tickets booked for this year, one international and one domestic and both with the Superfriends, and that is enough already.  The travel with the family will have to be a road trip or a staycation. I am sure I will be able to find good TakeCoupons coupons for this. And for teh travel with the husband, maybe an overnight in Tagaytay will suffice.
  2. I will try to read more books and stop playing Candy Crush, hahaha.
  3. I will write one blog post a day and not neglect my blogs.
  4. I will do something about our  travel albums and photo frames which I have been planning to do for some time now.
  5. I will try to save at least P50K this year and invest in the bond market next year.
  6. I will try to climb 12 mountains this year.
  7. I will try to run 7 times a week and encourage my daughter to join me during the weekends.
  8. I will try to eat much healthier this year and lose weight.
  9. I will try not to procrastinate any more.
  10. I will study more.

I wish I will be able to do this things this year, more to improve myself and be happier than ever. So good luck to me!

12 Mountains in 2014

Jan 8, 2014

Mt Marami, looking like a Lion's head from a distance

I plan to climb 12 mountains this year, hanggang kaya pa ng tuhod ko.  Akyat lang akyat. I will 37 this year and I know that I only have a few years left in me before mabasag ang tuhod ko. So I wont book anymore tickets other than those I have already bought, but will concentrate instead on climbing more mountains. Actually, mas matipid to. So goodluck to me and more mountains this year! If only my studies. my Sunday classes is not getting in the way! Hmmp!

The Mountain is Calling and I Must Go!
